From 1997 on, professional work has been on the design and development of new types of pumps and associated components. Links from the Home Page of this Web site provide information.
From 1990 to 1996 he worked as a consultant, mainly in areas associated with transport. During that period, he also held senior positions on a contract basis with three National Associations, The Australian Gas Association, The Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Australia, and Intelligent Transport Systems Australia.
Until 1990 he worked for the Australian Government, being based in Melbourne then Canberra.
At various times he was Chairman or member of many Government or industry committees. This included appointment as Chairman of the Australian Motor Vehicle Certification Board, secondment to the United States EPA, and Australian delegate at many United Nations meetings in Geneva. He presented many papers at national and international forums, in the areas of vehicle safety, transport and energy, and natural gas vehicles.
He frequently represented Government or industry overseas, including visits to United States of America, United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, Singapore, Czechoslovakia, Argentina, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greece, Vanuatu and Belgium.

1996 to 1996 - EXECUTIVE OFFICER, INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS AUSTRALIA.
Responsible to the President and Board for representation of the Association and co-ordination of national interests and activities, with a particular focus on business planning and development of the Association.
1990 to 1996 - NGV MANAGER, AUSTRALIAN GAS ASSOCIATION, CANBERRA
Within the Australian Gas Association, provided the necessary support for the major gas utilities in their development of the Natural Gas for Vehicles (NGV) industry.
Worked with dual responsibilities to the Chief Executive of the Association, and to the Chairman of the NGV Committee which was responsible for development of NGV nationally.
Closely involved with all the associated NGV policy, market research, business planning, industry research and development, representations to government and promotion.
Represented the Australian Gas Association widely in international NGV activities, in International Gas Union Task Forces, and in membership of the International Association for Natural Gas Vehicles.
Took a major part in the establishment of the Australasian Natural Gas Vehicles Council, which was formed to represent the collective NGV interests of the industry in Australia and New Zealand.
1990 to 1996 - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, COMMERCIAL VEHICLE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA, CANBERRA.
Responsible for national representation of the Association, which deals with the interests of manufacturers in the commercial vehicle and bus and coach industries.
Member of many Government and industry consultative bodies, including those fostered by the National Road Transport Commission, the Federal Office of Road Safety, and Department of Transport Trade Co-ordination Group.
Closely involved with many of the regulatory and policy proposals affecting road transport in Australia.

Responsible for development and enforcement of national vehicle safety and emission requirements, including an attachment to the United States of America Environmental Protection Agency.
Chair of many of the groups responsible for Australian vehicle safety regulation. These included the Vehicle Standards Advisory Committee and the Australian Motor Vehicle Certification Board, these two bodies then being responsible for the development and enforcement of national vehicle regulations.
Frequently represented Australia at the United Nations in Geneva in the development of international vehicle regulations, and in negotiation of agreements with other countries.
